It’s Friday! And it’s time again to do some bookish Friday Meme’s.

  1. Friday Book Beginnings hosted by Rose City Reader : You choose the book you are currently reading or the one that is closest to you and share the first few sentences.

  2. Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice : you simply turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader and share a sentence or two that you enjoy. Then just add maybe a synopsis about the book in case others are interested. That’s it!

BOOK BEGINNINGS :

The prison bore a sharp resemblance of the dungeons of Anastacya’s childhood : dark, wet, and made of unyielding stone that leaked grime and misery. There was blood too she could sense it all, tugging at her from the jagged steps to the torch-blackened walls, lingering at the edges of her consciousness like an ever-present shadow.

It came to Ana then, with a stirring of the breeze that brought to her the loamy scent of soil. Winter, a child crouched in the snow, nursing to life a small white flower. My child, we are but dust and stars.

The book I chose for today’s friday book memes is Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao.

In the Cyrilian Empire, Affinites are reviled. Their varied gifts to control the world around them are unnatural—dangerous. And Anastacya Mikhailov, the crown princess, has a terrifying secret. Her deadly Affinity to blood is her curse and the reason she has lived her life hidden behind palace walls. When Ana’s father, the emperor, is murdered, her world is shattered. Framed as his killer, Ana must flee the palace to save her life. And to clear her name, she must find her father’s murderer on her own. But the Cyrilia beyond the palace walls is far different from the one she thought she knew. Corruption rules the land, and a greater conspiracy is at work—one that threatens the very balance of her world. And there is only one person corrupt enough to help Ana get to its core: Ramson Quicktongue. A cunning crime lord of the Cyrilian underworld, Ramson has sinister plans—though he might have met his match in Ana. Because in this story, the princess might be the most dangerous player of all.

This is the year I read all of my eBooks. I went on a bit of a splurge last year, buying any and every eBook that was recommended or on sale and then they sat in my kindle, sad and unread. This is the year I finally read them all starting with this one! A friend of mine speaks highly of it so I am itching to dive in. Have your read Blood Heir before? What did you think?
